On June 23rd, 2024, The Philadelphia Eagles Youth Football Academy hosted 225 kids ages 5 to 14 years old inside the Eagles Indoor Practice Facility. The Eagles Youth Football Academy is designed to provide boys and girls with a premier football development training session coupled with the ultimate Eagles experience. Our June 23rd event welcomed back two great Eagles Alumni, William Thomas and Barrett Brooks. To start off the camp, each athlete got an individual picture with William Thomas, SWOOP, and the Eagles cheerleaders.
With music and excitement pumping through the indoor field, warm ups occurred while everyone got their pictures taken, and then once over, William Thomas welcomed all of the attending parents and players to the Eagles headquarters. During William’s talk he also gave the kids a chance to ask him a number of questions about the NFL, his time with the Eagles, and why he started playing football. Following the Q&A, the athletes split up into their designated groups. At the Eagles Youth Football Academy, participating athletes are broken out by age so our coaching staff can provide athletes with age appropriate skills and drills. William made sure to go to each station to give corrections, advice, and coaching to the athletes.
Once William departed, Eagles great Barrett Brooks arrived. Barrett hopped right into the stations and followed suit with what William did previously, teaching and training the attending players. Athletes had the chance to go through 12 stations, each station was designed to teach a specific football fundamental or movement. After the players participated in all 12 stations, they had the chance to hear directly from Barrett Brooks. Barrett started his speech about the importance of being aware of what you post on social media and the significance of football, and then proceeded to start his Q&A. Barrett has previously said he loves to give back to the Philly community because these are opportunities that he did not have at a young age. The clinic wrapped up with a group photo with Barrett.
